Together again!

I got my computer back yesterday. The PC people had told me it would be 3-5 days and that they’d call me once they were done. Since I didn’t have my pc at home, I spent most of last week at Star’s. No computer meant no internet, no video games, no anime, and no porn. Plus I’d forbade myself from buying any new cosplay materials until next paycheck, so I couldn’t even really work on cosplay. So there wasn’t much reason to stay at my apartment. After a couple days at Star’s I started getting antsy. I wanted to be back at my place, sleeping in my bed, eating my food, wallowing in my mess, etc. I waited 8 days before finally calling the PC people. They said, "Oh yeah, your computer’s ready." It made me wish I could reach through the phone and throttle them.
I used my lunch break to go get my computer. Their hourly rate was about $60/hr and the grand total came to $140. (So much for saving money this month.) I wasn’t too happy about the price or how long it had taken. My car mechanic costs $60/hr, but his work on my car lets me keep my job, buy food, and stay safe and mobile. I don’t really think a computer nerd installing drivers and fiddling with directories warrants the same amount of money. Not to mention it had taken them a week to do 2.5 hours of work on my computer. I wasn’t happy, but more than anything I just wanted my computer back. So I paid, grabbed my tower, and ran.
When I got home I plugged it all back in and fired it up. I was glad to see it boot through the normal screens, but once it got to the desktop a window advertising ":::CellDorado – Beach Babes:::" popped up. I read my receipt . . . "All Malware removed" my ass. Other than that one blemish, my computer was back to normal. While I may have been irritated by the wait and the final cost, I was relieved that they didn’t have to reformat and cause me to lose all my games and pictures and writings and other stuff that can’t be replaced so easily. I should probably start backing stuff up more often.
