Old post is old

I know All-Con is a month in our rear-view mirror, but I hand-wrote this post and it's been sitting on my desk collecting dust. Might as well upload the damn thing!
My last weekend at home I chose to go to All-Con rather than Anime Matsuri. Nothing I’d heard about AM impressed me, whereas AC sounded like the event where all the fun kids were going to be. I wanted this weekend’s emphasis to be on fun and hanging out rather than cosplay. I arrived there about 10 pm Friday night, having left Austin late due to a fruitless date.
I walked into a party in full swing. There were dozens of people drinking in our room. I was glad to see all my Dragon*Con roommates were there. It was great to hear so many people yell my name when I entered. Brooks was fully drunk and especially forward in his flirting, as normal. (Next time I'll wear some protection, like an athletic cup.) Jesse was in full command behind the bar, Chris and Nicole were pleasantly amiable. It was an unexpected bonus to see Gordon there and I also got re-acquainted with Tahiti (Sarah). Even the razor-sharp witty Gren was there! Hell, there were a lot of people that I ‘met’, but by morning I wouldn’t remember their names. Apparently ours was the only room party of note, which was why there was such a huge crowd. Things kept rocking till about 4 am. The best entertainment of the night was the ‘after-party’; watching Jesse futilely attempted to undress a comatose Brooks and put him to bed.
Saturday morning I went downstairs with Robin, Jesse’s little sister, and saw just how small All-Con was. So tiny! There were two dominant cosplay themes there: steampunk and Star Wars, with a smattering of general tv and comic stuff. All I had to wear was Finn, whether or not he fit in. There wasn’t much to get excited about, cosplay-wise. I think I took a total of 5 photos.
Jesse and Brooks entered the cosplay contest. While they were busy with that, the rest of us (Robin, Stephanie, Rachel, and Courtney) went to a burger joint for dinner. It had a weird name like SmutBurger or SnatchBurger; something like that. The girls ordered a huge 5-lb plate of bacon cheese fries, which I avoided (the burger and beer was enough calories for me) until they couldn’t finish it and I got stuck with clean-up duty. After dinner we hit the liquor store for more supplies.
I’d started drinking well before dinner so I had a good buzz going by the time we got back. The cosplay contest had just let out and the evening’s festivities were getting under way. (At this point my memory starts becoming patchy.) It seemed a re-run of the night before; tons of people in the room. This time though it reached all new levels of craziness, complete with wheelchairs, Jacuzzi-dipping, and indecent relations. From what I can remember, it was nuts.
This is not me, by the way.
