astillarI'm tired of working on my GIR. But I've only got three more evenings to finish it up. Been spending all my spare time on this costume. I don't know what I was thinking, but maybe it went something like this, "Hmm, I've got a month between this convention and the next . . . let's start a new costume the likes of which I've never made before." Great idea, since it takes me an average of 7 months to build a costume. Duh. I'll admit, this mascot costume is easier to make than my previous costumes; that's the only way I had any chance of completing it in time. But still, I should've given myself more time. And wearing a 40-lb costume made out of fleece and foam in Texas in June? I must've had a bigtime brainfart when I came up with that idea.
I don't have much of a choice though. Due to A-kon's draconian cosplay rules, both of my other costumes are banned, so it's this costume or nothing. That really put some sand in my undies.
Oh, and my boss is dragging his feet about giving me time off. I put in my request 3 weeks before the event, but I haven't heard back from him yet, despite multiple emails. I ain't gonna bitch if he says no, but at least give me some sort of answer so I can devise a Plan B. I've got five people staying in my room. If it were just me, I wouldn't make any fuss about being denied vacation time. But they're depending on me. *sigh* I've been doing that alot today, sighing. 'Cause I'm tired and mildly stressed from this situation.
Well, I've got to get back to work. This costume won't assemble itself.

Date: 2006-06-09 07:19 am (UTC)Geeze, it sounds like you got a lot of work on your shoulders xO I've been burdened with a lot of work too lately but in a different way (school work and personal stuff) so in a way I know what you mean there. I hope things work out for the best on the matter.
