Friday I drove direct from Kerrville to Dallas, stopping at my place only long enough to do a load of laundry and pack an extended-stay suitcase. The drive was frustratingly slow (as always) and a huge thunderstorm was in the DFW area when I arrived. The colors of the sunset sky were pretty surreal, but I was in too much of a hurry to stop for any photos. When I got to Courtney’s place we cuddled for a good while before getting started on dinner. Courtney cooked while I 'helped,' by which I mean that I constantly hovered around her. We ate at the living room’s coffee table. When asked what I wanted to do afterwards, I replied 'lazy fun,' as I was tired from driving all day and I didn’t really want the hassle of going out. So we simply laid down on the couch and talked. It was mostly random chit-chat; I think the most serious topic was personal religious beliefs. Though she’s merely agnostic (with pagan leanings), I was glad to learn that she doesn’t follow any major religion.
Saturday we went to lunch at La Madeline. That place is so damned delicious with it's bakery and desserts. Then we stopped for some cosplay supplies before returning to her place. Cosplaycosplaycosplay. We went to Tokyo One for dinner. That place was an amazing Japanese buffet and I was delighted to find that they had real udon too. As soon as she seated us, the waitress said something like, "You have a beautiful woman." I almost laughed at that. (Tell me something I DON'T know!) We probably over-did it with the plum wine and mango ice cream but everything tasted SO good. The bill wasn't modest but it was worth it. We were feeling especially fat and lethargic after dinner. Lisa called to invite us to her place to watch 'Alien'. I was lukewarm about the idea and we vetoed it, opting instead to go to bed.
Sunday morning we did some more shopping and then went to Central Market for groceries. It was a cool, fancy grocery store. We ended up having lunch there, then went back to the apartment for more cosplay work.
That night we went to dinner at Spring Creek, a barbecue place that my family used to eat at when we lived in DFW. That was a bit nostalgic. A big thunderstorm hit as we were driving back to the apartment. The rain was biblically intense. Once back at the apartment we settled into the couch to watch 'Paranormal Activity'. It was okay, I guess.
Although I should’ve left Sunday night for my Wichita Falls job, I pushed it and slept over. I woke up with Courtney and loaded my truck while she got ready for work. I had trouble pulling myself away from that last, long hug with her.
