Gwuh . . .
Today’s just as bad as yesterday. I cannot stay awake. I keep nodding off at my desk and I’m bound to get caught. I attempted to do a George Castanza and hide under my desk to take a nap, but it’s a little too small for me down there. I’ve been getting candies and soda from the snack machine, thinking that the sugar and caffeine would wake me up, but it’s no use. Today instead of lunch I went home, set the kitchen timer to 60 minutes, and took a nap. If I could just get an assignment out in the field, something where I’m actually moving around and exerting myself, I’d be fine but there’s so much office work to do that I’m stuck in here for the foreseeable future. Bleh. So now I’m writing an LJ post to break the monotony of the day.
On Valentine’s Day Star and I didn’t do too much. All that planning for Ikki-con kinda eclipsed V-day and after paying for the hotel stay, I didn’t have the funds to do anything extravagant anyways. We swapped cards and candies and heart-o’s and went out to dinner. I was hoping we’d at least be able to find a restaurant where the food wasn’t served on a tray, but that was the only kind of place with any vacancy. Star was okay about it; she said she didn’t mind having a low-key Valentine’s as long as we had an awesome anniversary. That gives me seven weeks to forget and then one to panic.
This weekend we finally got started on moving Star into her new apartment. Saturday we went with her family to Ikea to get some furniture. I tried to be helpful but I’ll admit that half the time I was distracted picking out stuff for myself or lusting over those delicious cinnamon buns they sell there. *drool* Sunday we went to her grandma’s, packed some stuff up there, and then hauled it to her apartment. We’d only gotten a little unpacking done before we got a call from JB & Co., asking us if we wanted to go to the “Mike & Ike’s Crazy Animation Festival” (or something like that) at the Drafthouse. It sounded fun, so . . . giddy-up!
I got Whataburger on the way there, so I only ordered a bucket of beer once I got to the theater and Star ordered a Galactus-sized popcorn. (I think I’ll get nachos next time because they smelled pretty good.) At the risk of being labeled an immature boy who likes potty humor, I’m going to say that I was entertained by the line-up. The animation wasn’t what I was expecting. I’d thought they would show the Ghiblies or Fuccons or other random weird animated stuff, but this was geared more towards edgy, adult material. “Apesh!t” might’ve been my favorite title (or maybe just the only one whose title I can remember).
So that was my weekend. Today I got a notice from my apartment that my lease will be ending soon and that I can renew it . . . at a higher rent. Pfft. This apartment was already at the expensive end of what I could afford, so I’m not too happy about the increased rates. But I don’t feel like moving is worth the trouble right now so I’ll probably just eat the costs. What’s another year, anyways? *shrug*
