For a while there it was looking like a trailer would be ungettable. U-Haul says their trailers have a top speed of 55 mph. Like hell I'm driving 1400 miles at 55 mph. Not to mention their rental rates don't seem optimized for a week-long rental.
Hertz rental seems the better choice. They've got trailers from 4'x6' to 6'x12', all for about $200 for the week. If everyone who's using the trailer chips in $30, that'd add up to $240. That would cover the rental and leave a little more to help pay for my truck's reduced fuel economy due to pulling a trailer. Hertz didn't say anything about a top speed for their trailers, but they seem more set up for long distance rentals so I don't think it'll be a problem. In any case, a customer rep will be contacting me soon.
So yeah, now that it seems I've got a handle on this thing, I guess what I need to know now is how much room each person thinks they'll need for their cosplay luggage. There's no need to get a trailer bigger than what we need, that'll just eat more gas. So if any of you have an estimate already, please let me know.
